Ink Bloom

Drops of ink blooming through a water tank in slow, marbled clouds

Drops of coloured ink fall into a tank of still water and bloom: each sinks as a curling vortex ring, rolling the ink into layers, slows as it spreads, and dissolves into the slow turbulence of the water, settling into a marbled bank where the colours mix. Photographed against a soft backlit sweep, or in a dark tank lit from the side. Move the mouse to stir the water and swirl the ink; click to drop a fresh bead of ink where you click. With music on the backlight breathes with the bass and the tiny rising bubbles glint on the beat.
