Monkey Onsen

Snow monkeys soaking in a steaming hot spring as the snow falls, in ink

Snow monkeys soak up to their shoulders in a steaming mountain hot spring while snow falls, painted in ink wash on rice paper: grey ink, dry-brush rocks capped with snow, a snow-laden pine and misty cedars, and the monkeys' red faces the only colour. An old monkey dozes with his eyes shut, a mother keeps her baby close, steam curls up off the water and drifts with the breeze, and the snow settles on their heads and melts as it falls into the steam. Move the mouse over the water to stir rings into it and part the steam. With music on the steam swells with the bass.
