Rice Terraces

Flooded rice terraces in dawn mist, a farmer walking the bank, on old silk

Terraced paddies wrap a hillside at dawn, every one flooded and still as a mirror, gold where it catches the low red sun, painted as a Chinese blue-green landscape in fine ink lines and mineral colours on old silk. Mist drifts through the valleys, egrets cross over it, and a farmer in a conical hat walks the bank of a terrace with baskets swinging from his shoulder pole. Move the mouse over the water to ripple it and through the mist to part it; with music on the gold in the terraces glimmers along with the tune.
