Tulip Mill

Rows of red, yellow, pink and violet tulips run away to a Dutch windmill turning slowly on its dike, drawn in coloured pencil on toothy paper: hatching that follows the forms, the paper grain sparkling through the sky, layers of colour pressed into the darks. A breeze from the left drives the clouds and birds across and bends the tulips, ripples of wind roll over the rows and the canal mirrors the mill.
